Front line · follow-up · sustain

Trio team compositions

The best launch Trio is not three S-tier labels. Give every player a job, make the engage and follow-up compatible, and know which weakness the third slot is covering.

Composition test

Who starts, who converts, who keeps the plan alive?

Front line or engage creates safe space. Follow-up damage converts control into pressure. Sustain, peel, or denial stops the enemy from reversing the fight. A composition can combine jobs, but it cannot ignore them.

Launch templates

Four Trio plans

These are transparent editorial templates built from current class roles, not claims of measured tournament win rate.

Forgiving all-rounder

Learning line

Plan: Mercenary holds attention and interrupts dives, Blackarrow supplies stable backline pressure, and Reverent Seer extends the fight.

Watch: Low burst if Mercenary cannot create access or Blackarrow loses distance.

Control and sustain

Protected spell line

Plan: Polearm and Shield blocks routes and peels, Sorcerer controls groups, and Seer protects the long setup with healing and runes.

Watch: Two fragile backliners make a successful Shadowstrix flank especially dangerous.

PvP target deletion

Pick line

Plan: Blackarrow exposes or pressures a target, Mercenary disrupts the response, and Shadowstrix enters after defensive cooldowns are spent.

Watch: Limited sustain means failed burst becomes an unfavorable extended fight.

Route denial

Extraction choke line

Plan: Sacred Bulwark, traps, special arrows, Forbidden Gate, and area magic turn a narrow route into overlapping denial.

Watch: The plan is strongest around terrain and objectives; a scattered open-field fight dilutes it.

Change the job, not only the name

Useful substitutions

ReplaceWithWhat changes
MercenaryWithered KnightLose some forgiving brawler pressure; gain Greatsword execution or stronger Polearm/Shield protection.
BlackarrowSorcererTrade tracking and sustained bow pressure for magic area control, gates, and a more fragile backline.
SeerShadowstrixTrade healing and runes for faster target deletion; the composition must finish before sustain matters.
ShadowstrixBlackarrowTrade ambush burst for safer, more repeatable ranged pressure and route control.

Before the first ability

Trio fight checklist

  1. Name the player who calls the target and the player who starts contact.
  2. Keep follow-up within range of the engage; do not let a mobile class fight alone.
  3. Reserve one peel, barrier, rune, or knockback for the enemy's counter-entry.
  4. After the burst window, decide together whether to chase, reset, or extract.

Trio answers

Team composition FAQ

What is the best Trio composition in Mistfall Hunter?

There is no universal best, but Mercenary, Blackarrow, and Reverent Seer is the safest learning composition: front line, ranged follow-up, and sustain all have clear owners.

Does every Trio need a Seer?

No. Healing changes long fights, but a composition can replace sustain with faster pressure, stronger route denial, or a second durable frontliner. The replacement must shorten the fight or prevent damage consistently.

Can a Trio use duplicate classes?

This guide plans complementary class roles. It does not assume a duplicate restriction, but three distinct jobs usually make strengths and weaknesses easier to manage.
